MAJOR PROJECTS ONGOING
- ACCRA URBAN TRANSPORT PROJECT – POKUASE INTERCHANGE PROJECT
The specific objective of the Accra Urban Transport Project is to promote efficient movement of goods and people to and from the city through Pokuase, boost trade along the connecting routes, provide income generation opportunities, promote affordable transport services and generally improve the livelihoods of the people in the project area. The project is being funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Ghana (GoG). Main Works include:
- Construction of a four (4) Tier interchange at Pokuase Junction
- Construction of 10km of selected local roads to connect the communities to the interchange
- Construction of 2 overhead footbridges

2. KUMASI ROADS AND DRAINAGE EXTENSION PROJECT
The project is being funded by Agencę Française de’Developpment and is in three main components:
- The expansion of existing Lake Road (single carriageway) into a dual carriageway from Coca-Cola Bottling Company area km2+700 to km4+700; a further extension to Dompoase Junction and thence to the new Terminal at Dompoase.
- The extension of Sissai drain by 2km;
- Construction of 3 No. Reinforced concrete bridges across the Sissai River.

Commencement: 1st February, 2019
Expected Completion: 1st March, 2021

3. LA BEACH ROAD COMPLETION PROJECT
The project seeks to improve the capacity along the Accra Tema Beach Road and ensure the safety of commuters and other road users. This project would go through communities like Osu, La, Teshie, Nungua, Tema Community and Sakumono.

4. CONSTRUCTION OF OBETSEBI LAMPTEY INTERCHANGE
This project generally seeks to reduce congestion around the Obetsebi roundabout and facilitate the free movement of goods and people. The project also seeks to solve the perennial flooding within the project location by upgrading the existing drainage structures.

5. TAMALE INTERCHANGE
The Tamale interchange is about one kilometre long and links the Kumasi road through the Point 7 road, the Central Taxi Rank, Central Market intersection with the Melcom Road and Bolgatanga Road. The project seeks to improve travel times and reducing conflicts among the various modes of transport on the road and other vulnerable road users like pedestrians and

6. DUALIZATION OF HO MAIN ROAD (SOKODE GBORGAME-CIVIC CENTRE)
The project is being executed to accommodate the anticipated high traffic volume that is expected within the volta Region in the near future. The project consists of the dualization of the main road into Ho from Sokode Gborgame and traffic management of existing roads within the city centre.

7. TESHIE LINK ROAD
The Teshie Link forms part of the Accra East Corridor Roads. It is a 7.5km minor arterial road which starts from a location on the Tema Beach Road about 400m from Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) towards Teshie across the Spintex road and ends on the Accra-Tema Motorway.
