The functional jurisdiction of the department comprises of all the urban road network across the country. This translates into all metropolitan and municipal assembly areas. The Department currently has Offices in all the 16 Regions of Ghana helping in the delivering of our role.

As a department we seek to.

1. Provide inputs into policy formulation of the road sector.
2. Develop standards and guidelines for the implementation and effective functioning of the urban road network.
3. Monitor, evaluate and provide quality assurance for programmes and projects.
4. Initiate and implement human resource and capacity building programmes.
5. Supervise the provision of road network and transport related infrastructure.
