Asphaltic Overlay of the three northern regions is a project to asphalt critical roads in the regional capitals of the three northern regions. 30km of roads were asphalted in the North East region. Asphalted roads in the region were selected from the two regional municipalities, which are the East and West Mamprusi Municipality. Asphalted roads in the region have provided road users with ease of mobility, reduced travel time and enhanced the local economy of the two municipalities. Another benefit of the asphalt overlay to the region was the elevation of the road surface condition to befit a regional status following the creation of the region in 2018. The project was awarded by the Ministry of Roads and Highways through the Department of Urban Roads to Messrs QG Konstruktion AB on April 6, 2020, to be completed in eighteen (18) calendar months.
The rehabilitation of these roads is mainly to reduce travel time, vehicle operating cost and reduce environmental pollution and safety for all road users.
The scope of this project in the North East region is to asphalt some 30km of critical Major, Minor Arterial and Collector roads. The table below lists these critical roads asphalted in the North East Region.
