UPGRADING OF SELECTED ROADS IN SEFWI WIAWSO LOT 1 (5.0KM)

The contract for the Upgrading of Selected Roads in Sefwi Wiawso Lot 1 (5.0Km) was signed between M/S Hardwick Limited and the Ministry of Roads and Highways being represented by the Department of Urban Roads on the 8th of July,2019. The works are being funded by the Ghana Road Fund Secretariate.

The project entails the construction of U-drains, laying of sub-base and base courses, and surface dressing. In all, a total of 5Km of roads are being rehabilitated.

  1. – Reduce travel time and road use cost,
  2. – Improve accessibility to homes and social amenities,
  3. – Make connectivity easier,
  4. – Enhance proper drainage efficiency,
  5. – Boost economic activities hence improve standard of living,
  6. – Improve community growth,
  7. – Create job opportunities for the people.
  • – Provision of adequate drainage systems to safely  convey the huge volume of runoff generated across the roads to outfall,
  • – Provision of edge beams to protect the road edges and also prevent the ingress of water into the underlying road pavement to ensure sound performance,
  • – Improving the horizontal and vertical profile of the road,
  • – Improving the pavement condition to carry the required axle load.

This contract was signed between M/S G.S International Developers (Ghana) Limited and the Ministry of Roads and Highways being represented by the Department of Urban Roads on the 10th of March, 2020. The works are being funded by the Ghana Road Fund Secretariate.

REHABILITATION OF AWASO TOWN ROADS – RELOCATED TO BIBIANI (5.00KM)

The contract was signed on the 10th March, 2020 between M/S G.S International Developers (Ghana) Limited and the Ministry of Roads and Highways being represented by the Department of Urban Roads. The works are being funded by the Ghana Road Fund Secretariate.

The project entails the construction of U-drains, laying of base and sub-base courses, and surface dressing. In all, a total of 5Km of roads are to be rehabilitated.

Relocation of Project  

Several discussions with the Regional Office of the Ghana Highway Authority revealed that the Authority had an existing contract on the same road network at Awaso where the Department intended to execute its contract.  This was confirmed by the GHA in a letter addressed to the Department’s Regional Office.

As a result of the above situation, the project was relocated to Bibiani.

The objectives of this project are to;

    3. – Make connectivity easier,
